Overview
Jiangmen is a river port handling foreign trade on the western side of the Greater Bay Area, centred on the Xinhui area within the Pearl River waterway network.
Export role and throughput
Foreign-trade container throughput reached 340,100 TEU in 2024, a sharp rise of 47.98% that made Jiangmen one of the fastest-growing ports on the western side of the bay area. Cargo is led by paper, stainless steel products, furniture and food.
Infrastructure and berths
Xinhui is the core operating area with both river and coastal berths plus container and break-bulk facilities, using the Xijiang, Tanjiang and Jiangmen waterways to reach Zhuhai Gaolan and Guangzhou Nansha for deep-sea loading.
Location and inland connectivity
On the western side of the Pearl River Delta where the Xijiang and Tanjiang meet, the Jiangmen waterway connects to Hong Kong and Macau and expressways tie into the delta road network, serving Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Yangjiang and western Guangdong.

Serves Jiangmen paper, stainless steel products, food, textiles, furniture and motorcycle clusters. Links the Jiangmen high-tech zone with port operations under Shenzhen-Jiangmen cooperation.
A convenient first leg for western delta exporters, but every deep-sea unit transfers at Gaolan or Nansha. Quote transit from the transhipment port rather than from Jiangmen.
