Overview

Quanzhou is an important port of the west-coast Taiwan Strait economic zone and the export gateway for southern Fujian's private-sector manufacturing, centred on the Shihu, Houzhu and Weitou areas.

Export role and throughput

The port handled 63.6423 million tonnes of cargo and 2.0187 million TEU in 2024, up 5.81%. Exports are dominated by stone, building materials, light industrial goods and textiles, making Quanzhou the main channel for the city's private manufacturers.

Infrastructure and berths

Shihu is the container core, Weitou handles direct cross-strait sailings and Houzhu covers break-bulk. The port has deep-water berths, bonded logistics facilities and dedicated stone terminals.

Location and inland connectivity

On the central Fujian coast at the historic start of the Maritime Silk Road, the Xingquan railway and Fuzhou-Xiamen expressway reach into central and southern Fujian, with dense cross-strait services and coverage extending to southern Jiangxi.

Surrounding industry clusters

Serves Quanzhou's private manufacturing clusters: textiles and apparel (the Jinjiang group), footwear (Anta, Xtep and others), stone, building materials, food and machinery. Hosts a comprehensive bonded zone with cross-border e-commerce facilitation.

What this means for WPC buyers

Best suited to southern Fujian suppliers with regional or cross-strait customers; Xiamen sits close by with six times the container volume for long-haul cargo.

Figures are for 2024 unless noted, compiled from China's Ministry of Transport, provincial and municipal authorities, and port group disclosures. Values marked approx. are industry estimates.
