Tianjin is the core of north China's international shipping zone and the main sea outlet for Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, north and northwest China.

Tianjin Port Group moved 493 million tonnes of cargo (up 3%) and 23.28 million TEU (up 5%) in 2024, both record highs, ranking within China's top seven for containers and serving both foreign and domestic trade.

Infrastructure and berths

The Beijiang, Nanjiang, Dongjiang and Dagu areas combine large deep-water container berths with ro-ro, bulk grain, petrochemical and LNG terminals. Dongjiang is a free-trade port zone and automation continues to be upgraded.

Serves the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan region and the north and northwest hinterland, with sea-rail links to Inner Mongolia and Shanxi, aligned with regional coordinated development and Belt and Road corridors.

Supports automotive, equipment manufacturing, petrochemicals, steel, electronics and biopharmaceuticals across Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, with port-side industry concentrated in Binhai New Area.
